Aggravated battery is a second degree felony in Florida. It is when someone causes great bodily harm, permanently disables or permanently disfigures another. A person can also be arrested for this violent crime if they use a deadly weapon while intentionally touching someone against their will. A deadly weapon is one that is used or threatened to be used in a way likely to cause death or bodily harm.

Aggravated Battery on a Pregnant Female is yet another way to charge this crime. It occurs when a simple battery is committed on someone who is with child. The suspect must know or should have known that the victim is pregnant to be convicted of this crime.
